Chaotic scenes at Shoaib-Sania arrival in Lahore

lAHORE – The newly-wed Pakistan and Indian sports couple Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza

arrived here at the Allama Iqbal International Airport from Islamabad on Friday evening only to

witness chaotic scenes at the hotel.


To the surprise of all the fans at the arrival lounge, the couple came out of the airport from the

Haj Terminal and left in an ordinary car instead of the limousine parked outside, which was

brought here for their journey into the city.


Malik drove the car straight to a local hotel on The Mall where a large contingent of police was

deputed to secure the area while cameramen thronged the are to record the moments of their

arrival in the city.


The rowdy scenes that were seen at the Karachi were repeated at Lahore making it impossible

for the couple to cover the few mertres distance in about 10 minutes. Malik was upset and Sania

was perplexed over the treatment meted out at the hotel, which announced free luxury suit for

couple and their family members.


The hotel staff failed to provide safe passage to the couple from the aspiring fans who gathered

to have a glimpse of the Indian tennis star. Tears were visible in the bride’s eyes and her mother

was consoling her till they reached their room.


Both Shoaib and Sania had to make their way to an elevator through crowded corridor of the

hotel. They were pushed by crowd. After that Malik almost embraced Sania in a bid to protect

her from uncontrollable crowd.

Earlier, both met with the Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad after which they departed for

Lahore through a PIA flight PK-391.


Meanwhile, a large number of people have gathered at the Lahore Airport to have a glimpse of

Shoaib and Sania while a limousine car has been arranged at the airport to take the couple.
